Montignoso

The territory of Montignoso, in the province of Massa Carrara, stretches in a zone that stretches from the sea up to the mountains above. Castle Anghinolfo nucleus is the first historic Montagnoso and is considered by the settlements of Bizzantini one of the most important strategic points. Following was conquered by Lombard Rotari in the seventh century, and became the seat stable consorterie noble. Starting from the thirteenth century the area was purchased by the lords of Vallecchia and Corvaia, who settled in the fortress, taking the name of Noble di Castello. In 1847 the territory owned by Este and below they remained until 1859.
